The month of March 2018 marks a turning point for the restaurant industry. Alfred has launched its Alfred pro application destined for professionals working in this domain.

All the thought behind the development of the Alfred Pro application has been based on these aspects. We wanted to offer a solution that would allow restaurant owners to manage their wine stock as simply and as efficiently as possible”, says the president and founder of Alfred, Mr. Guy Doucet.

How does Alfred Pro help restaurant owners?

Alfred pro is entirely interfaced within the Maitre’D system: the most used POS system on the market. Thereby, restaurants can link their wine transactions with the inventory management system. Integrations with other POS system will follow in the upcoming weeks.

Maintaining a paper wine card is quite the challenge for restaurant owners because of the constant shifts in the available stocks. Alfred Pro allows the creation of virtual wine cards that have a built-in automatic inventory management system.

“It is frustrating for a sommelier to suggest and sell a product at a table, and then realize that the product is no longer in stock when in the cellar. This wine card functionality allows clients to view in real time the stocks of the cellar. Also, the restaurant owner can decide to only display a selection few products on his wine card to allow an easier disposal of stocks and to avoid potential losses related to a bottle that is no longer in its optimal tasting range”, explains Mr. Doucet.

The competition is very fierce in this domain and the quality of a the wine card is one of the many elements that can make a difference for restaurant owners.

“Market values evolve constantly in the wine world. It is not uncommon to see a grand cru double its value on a period of 5 years. The restaurant owner can then decide to increase its price to account for this increase in value. In short, this platform allows a simplified and sound management of their assets”, argues Guy Doucet.
