Bastide Miraflors Louis Roche 2013

Red wine
France (Languedoc-Roussillon)

Produced from vines grown on a pebbled land, this wine from Roussillon offers, in my opinion, the best current price value at the SAQ. I was seduced by the 2011 vintage and the 2013 has the same effect on me. It has a dark red color with purple highlights and its nose opens on aromas of black fruits such as blackberry, blueberry, plum and black olives. This rich juicy, opulent and delicious wine has very ripe tannins. This is clearly a bargain that should not be passed upon.

Grape varieties : 70% Syrah, 30% Grenache
Best drinking period: 2016 to 2019
SAQ Code 12413831
Stars: 4

Price $22.00

Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2011

Red wine
Italy (Veneto)

The 2011 Zenato Amarone is made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta. These three varietals are almost exclusive to the Veneto and bring its color, flavour and structure. With a deep crimson red, it has black cherry aromas, as well as plums and candied fruit, with complex notes of leather and chocolate fudge. On the palate, this wine is delicious with its blackcurrant jam tastes and hints of anise and tobacco. Strong and powerful, with a velvety finish and very firm tannins, this is an atypical wine that possesses excellent aging potential.

Grape varieties: 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, 10% Oseleta

Best drinking period: 2018 à 2030
SAQ code 879445
Stars: 5

Price $49.50

Available in SAQ Sélection and Classique branches.

Elderton Command Single Vineyard Shiraz 2012

Red wine
Australia (Barossa Valley)

Jewel of the Elderton domain, this wine has managed to develop an enviable reputation since its first vintage in 1984. It is harvested on a plot of Syrah that was planted in the Barossa Valley in 1894 … yes, you read right, 1894 … It has a purplish black color with shades of magenta and an intoxicating nose of cassis, blackberry, anise and spices that will seduce you. It is rich on the palate with generous fruit while ending on a complex aftertaste of Jamaican allspice. This is clearly a breathtaking Shiraz ! This wine was also awarded the trophy for best Shiraz in the world at the London International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2000!

Grape variety : 100% Syrah

Best drinking period: 2018 à 2030
SAQ Code 12897927
